Uruan monarch hails Udom for creation of new Clan

The acting Paramount Ruler of Ruler, Etebom Nicholas Eyo Ukpong, has commended the State government for approving the creation of one additional clan for Uruan Local Government Area.
Etebom Ukpong gave the commendation in his palace, Nung Oku Uruan, while briefing village heads in Uruan on latest developments in the traditional rulers’ council.
He intimated the village heads that due to the protracted illness of the Paramount Ruler, Edidem E. B. A. Ekanem, the State government delegated authority to him to perform functions associated with the traditional stool of Uruan.
Etebom Ukpong said his appointment which was conferred in a letter of February 22, 2016, signed on behalf of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, by the Secretary of the State Council of Chiefs, Barr. Samuel Essien, was in line with extant State laws governing the operations of the State Council of Chiefs.
“I appeal to every village head to discourage the invective launched in the media against the State Government and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs”.
“The government acted in line with provisions of the law guiding in respect to my appointment. We are aware that the seat of the Paramount Ruler has been vacant for more than six, so there was a need for someone to stand in for the Paramount Ruler. Government action was in our best interest”.
He encouraged the village heads to reciprocate government’s gesture regarding the creation of a new clan in Uruan.
“I and all members of TRC in Uruan appreciate the magnanimity of the government in giving Uruan additional clan. For this love I pledge unalloyed support to the government. I also charge the village heads particularly those from the newly created clan to reciprocate the gesture”.
The traditional ruler urged village heads from the new clan- South-East Uruan to go and conduct the selection of a clan head.
Etebom Ukpong advised village heads to maintain peace in their domain so that people can do their farm work on time to forestall famine.
The Paramount Ruler’s representative encouraged village heads to report any tensed situation in their communities to him either through visit or phone call.
Responding on behalf of the village heads, Eteidung Okon Akpan Udoh, village head of Ikot Ese sued for peace and co-operation from his colleagues for the representative of the Paramount Ruler.
Eteidung Udoh appreciated the representative of the Paramount Ruler for convening the meeting to properly brief them on developments in the traditional rulers’ council.
