(Victor Antai)

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Victor Antai has been described as an epitome of selfless service, patriotism and loyalty by the President, National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAAKISS) University of Uyo Chapter, Prince Esifa Asuquo Ita.

Speaking with Radar Newspaper, the student leader said that Antai’s contributions towards the development of Mbo Local Government Area, Oro Nation and Akwa Ibom State was commendable. He recalled how as a private businessman ,the Commissioner used his personal funds to replace fallen electricity poles and wires in some communities in Oro as well as fill potholes on roads in the area.

According to him, it was in appreciation of his selfless service that he was elected the Chairman of Mbo Local Government Council, a position he used to provide sound governance and empower the people for two terms of six years.

He noted that the loyalty of the  Commissioner is seen with the level of zeal with which he propagates the Governor’s programmes and philosophy as embedded in the “Dakadda”Creed at every given opportunity. He recalled an interview granted NAAKISS Editorial team by the Commissioner in which he extensively extolled the virtues of his boss and deplored the politics of blackmail which seeks to link him with a gubernatorial aspiration in 2019 as a ploy to portray him as over ambitious and disloyal .The student leader wondered how possible it was for the Commissioner to run for Governorship in 2019 when he  has been openly appealing to Akwa Ibom people to support Governor Udom Emmanuel for eight years. He advised politicians against pulling others down in a bid to achieve their own political goals.

He announced that while Governor Udom Emmanuel remains the Grand Patron of NAAKISS, Hon Victor Antai has been appointed patron alongside other four illustrious Akwa Ibomites in recognition of their selfless service and support for students and education.
