Christian Association of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State urges Christian congregations in the State to pay more attention to security in their churches.
Secretary of CAN, Bishop Emmanuel Ebitu said that the state evangelism committee of CAN was putting together security seminars to raise awareness on the activities of some fanatics who are against the Christian faith.
“We are aware of the influx of strangers into the State. We are also aware of the activities of fanatics within our midst, the new leadership of CAN is aware that some of these people are spies, so our evangelism committee is putting up security seminars to raise awareness in different parts of the State about the activities of these persons”.
“We call on churches to be more alert to security issues within and around their places of worship”.
Bishop Ebitu who spoke at a solemn assembly organised by the Women Wing Christian Association of Nigeria, WOWICAN, held at pastoral centre Dominic Utuk avenue, Uyo, noted that the new leadership was building synergies with security agencies in the State to forestall attacks on Christians and churches as experienced in other States.
He said the new leadership of CAN will partner WOWICAN for unity and greater development in the Christian fold in the State.
