Recently the leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu made a statement in an event that “President Muhammadu Buhari was the only candidate that would and could win former President Goodluck Jonathan in the last elections; hence there were no better choices.”
In essence the statement implies that the only thing in the minds of few elites who mastermind and have the wherewithal to manipulate the electoral process on behalf of the over 160million Nigerians are choosing a material for election winning and not a material for good leadership. This is not an attempt to say our president is not a good leader because that is not the purpose of this piece.
The purpose of this piece is to bring to the notice of the public a silent and salient revolution that is going on, a move that will break the walls of captivity and the seemingly powerlessness of ordinary Nigerians in the electoral process.
Nigeria First Project is a non-partisan, apolitical, non-governmental movement aimed at enlightening the populace on what to demand from their leaders before giving their thump.
According to the convener of Nigeria First Project (NFP), Arc. Ezekiel Nyaetok, an international building expert and pioneer chairman of Young Democratic Party, NFP is going to define 2019 election.
According to him, the NPF which was launched early January already has an office in Abuja with enthusiastic employers and over one hundred thousand Nigerians across the world have already signed up for the project and thousands are joining the movement daily.
NFP before 2019 will have a support based across the country that cannot be ignored, and one could imagine what an excellent and suitable leaders we could elect in 2019 if we have millions on Nigerians armed with the information as to the supposed qualities of a person who aspires to govern this complex country.
As a guide, five pillars mapped out as yard stick for future leadership in the country are outlined. They include integrity, capability, and charisma.
These pillars are not as we know it in their raw state, for example, integrity must include character, ethics, values and having Pan-Nigerian dispositions. This is not about integrity of a man who does not eat, drink beer and believes everyone who drinks is corrupt NO!
For the avoidance of doubt, the NFP is partnering an international leadership network for a curriculum on leadership that will serve as guideline for service leadership.
Needless to emphasis that the objective of the project is majorly to have a network of millions of enlightened voters across all the political parties, religion, tribe, age and any affiliation.
This is in furtherance of the believe that our country needs, is not a mega party with the same people being recycled, but a mega candidate with the right intellectual, leadership, temperamental and nationalistic characteristics at one end, and a well informed, detribalised, enlightened and Nigeria First voters who will give rules to those who need their thump print on the ballot and not the other way round.
Patriotism for our country demands that anyone still sitting on the fence needs to sign up to this project immediately and give support to salvage the future of Nigeria.
