A month ago, Obong Umana Okon Umana and Senator John James Akpanudoedehe could not see eye to eye, talk less of having a handshake. There were ungodly exchanged of words. The public was fed with all manner of press statements and press releases from both men.
I remember pleading with both politicians to ceasefire for the sake of their party, the APC in the state. I did that much because I knew there would be today.
Now, both men have reconciled. They saw eye to eye and even had brotherly hug during the state visit of acting President Yemi Osibanjo to Akwa Ibom. Trust is, there is no permanent enemy in politics.
I wish your overzealous supporters, who dedicated their lives and time in escalating your differences, see these pictures.
I pray when next you have political disagreement, you should keep your supporters away from it.
I thank you for giving peace a chance in your party. NO one man can be an island. APC needs both of you to succeed. Akwa Ibom state needs a virile opposition to checkmate activities of the ruling PDP. Democracy needs both of you to thrive in the state. This is a welcome development.
Thanks Mr Acting President. Your visit has brought the needed peace to Akwa Ibom opposition political party (APC).
