Residents of Eket Local Government Area, particularly members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Eket Chapter have been persuaded to cast their votes for all the candidates of the party in the area for both the chairmanship and councillorship elections during the December 2, 2017 local government elections to be conducted in the State.

This plea was made by the member representing Eket State Constituency and Deputy Chief Whip of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. David Lawrence Udofa at a ceremony organised by Ikot Nsidibe community in Okon geo-political zone of Eket Local Government Area to honour and recognise one of their sons, Hon. Ekanem Ini Willie as their political leader which was held recently at the community’s town hall.

The Eket Lawmaker also advised members the party to remain steadfast and loyal to the party, and ignore vain and deceitful distractions and persuasions from opposition parties which have nothing to offer to the people. He described such parties as camouflage and advised PDP faithful to learn a lesson from those colleagues who sometimes defected to such parties but have returned empty to the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party out of discontentment and disappointment occasioned by deceitful ideologies and fake propagandas.

The lawmaker also reminded PDP faithful in the area that the Peoples Democratic Party is a large family with sincerity of heart and concern for every member of the family, assuring them that the PDP will remain as the ruling political party in Akwa Ibom State, and will never compromise the position with any opposition party, considering its comparative advantage of large membership strength in all the local government areas in the State.

The Eket representative used the occasion to congratulate Eket Chapter of the party, the chapter and ward executives, elders and entire members for the successful conduct of the last party primaries in the area without any hitch. He also congratulated all the party flag bearers who succeeded in the primary elections and advised them to work hard towards the December 2, 2017 local government elections. The lawmaker also used the opportunity to solicit massive support for the re-election of Governor Udom Emmanuel in 2019, assuring the party members and his entire constituency that the Peoples Democratic Party will continue to win the governorship election in the State.
