The Akwa Ibom State branch of the Civil Liberties Organisation wishes to alert the general public to the growing tendencies for some groups or promoters of some civil society groups to come out with names that suggest either a coalition of Civil Society groups or a Community of Civil Society groups, purporting to be operating in Akwa Ibom State, which creates a misleading impression that there is such group that serves as umbrella group for civil society organizations in the state.
We want to state clearly and unequivocally that the Civil Liberties Organisation, Akwa Ibom State, is not a member of any such coalition of civil society groups, neither is CLO a member of any Human Rights Community in Akwa Ibom State or anywhere whatsoever.
This notice has become necessary to warn members of the public against transacting any business with any coalition or any community of civil rights or human rights groups and purporting same to have any effect or bearing with the Civil Liberties Organisation in Akwa Ibom State.
The Civil Liberties Organisation, remains an independent organization of civil rights activists committed to the protection of the rights and liberties of Nigerian citizens, while promoting the ethos of civic responsibilities and democratic participation.
We remain committed to the ideals set out by the founding fathers of the organization, to wit: Professor Wole Soyinka and Comrade Olisa Agbakoba, SAN.
Any communications or correspondences that have to do with the Akwa Ibom State branch of the CLO should be addressed to the Chairman, Comrade (Otuekong) Franklyn Isong c/o 177 Aka Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
