Ahead of the March 2nd Governorship elections, Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere has thanked religious leaders and organisations in the State for always praying for the success of the State, advising them to always preach peace, Unity and hardwork rather than spreading lies and introducing politics into Religion.
Ekere Stated this, Monday, at Uyo township Stadium during the APC Governorship campaign flag-off.
According to Ekere,” 2019 election campaigns is not going to be about religion, ethnicity or issues, but about performance and Akwa Ibom State”, urging all to eschew politics of division.
On his vision for the State, the governorship hopeful noted that his campaign is anchored on Economic Prosperity, Infrastructure and Rural Development, Education, Health and Social Protection, Security and Governance and Institutional reforms.
Commending past leaders for their efforts to make Akwa Ibom State what it is today, Ekere promised to build on the legacies left behind by past leaders.
He assured the youths of his readiness to create specific programs and policies that will alleviate unemployment, if voted in Power, adding that a vote for him, is a step away from poverty in the State.
On the rumours making the rounds that the All Progressive Congress has put machineries in place to cause violence during the general elections in the State by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ekere urged all to disregard such rumours, adding that the main perpetrators of violence is the PDP.
On his part, Chairman Contact and Mobilisation of the Campaign, Bishop Samuel Akpan, describing Governor Emmanuel’s Performance in the last three and a half years as abysmal, canvassed support for Ekere’s Governorship ambition, expressing assurance that Ekere’s emergence will wipe out poverty in the State.
In his Words, ” Governor Udom Emmanuel has done nothing worthy for Akwa Ibom people, that’s why I have come to plead and appeal to the people to allow us to take him home peacefully.
” I am apologising for the disgrace and the abysmal performance. I am on my knees to ask you to forgive him. Udom has disgrace his people, he has disgrace his Father and Mother and he has disgrace his family, that’s why God has given Obong Nsima Ekere to make a difference.
” Let us vote for Obong Nsima Ekere so that we can get out of poverty. ”
