The people of Uruan have again reiterated their rejection of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s proposed siting of a cemetery in the area.
Speaking at APC rally in Uruan, Baba Otu who decried the neglect Uruan has suffered under Gov Emmanuel-led administration in the past three years, regreted that the only developmental project the governor could think of attracting to the area was a cemetery.
Kicking against the proposal, Baba Otu said such was an insult to Uruan people and urged Governor Emmanuel to take such project to his home town.
“Cemetery is not an industry. Uruan is not the land of the dead. We’re not dead people. Gov Udom Emmanuel should take the cemetery to his hometown”, Baba Otu warned.
Reacting to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s planned importation of 2000 Mexican cows to Uruan to feed his proposed Cattle Ranch project at Adiadia, Uruan, Baba Otu warned that “Uruan people are not cattle rearers” and urged the governor to stop insulting the sensibility of Uruan people.
He also condemned what he described as Governor Emmanuel’s hatred for Uruan people.
Going down memory lane, he regretted that it was the same Governor Udom Emmanuel-led government that stalled NDDC intervention projects in the area when the agency under Obong Nsima Ekere wanted to construct the impassable Northern and Southern Uruan roads.
He said it was most disheartening that after Governor Emmanuel had chased away NDDC contractors he has failed to intervene in the said roads till date.
Baba Otu who said Udom has done nothing deserving of their support, said Uruan people will vote massively for Obong Nsima Ekere as the next governor, Hon Kufre Etuk as their next House of Assembly member and Hon Bassey Etim as Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District in the upcoming elections.
