It will be difficult to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria except the federal government takes a bold step to stop the ongoing community transmission of the virus through deportation of almajiris to all parts of the country.
It is obvious that when most states governors were alerted of the presence of the virus in Legos and Abuja, they smartly lockdown their states to curb the spread of the novel virus into their states. But, Kano and other northern states saw it as a joke. They did not take the virus serious until they started having rise in mysterious deaths.
My concern is that, instead of curtailing the spread of the virus, the northern states governors appeared to have conspired amongst themselves to channel their resources in exporting, deporting and sharing of almajiris to all parts of the country like federal allocations.
Except the federal government add her voice to that of the National Assembly to directs a halt in the ongoing distribution of almajiris to all parts of the country, one would say, it is not serious in curbing the spread of COVID-19.
In Akwa Ibom State, the state government and her people should remain vigilant to check the infiltration and/or transportation of almajiris into the state under any guise.
