I may not be a politician and do not belong to any political party. But as a free thinker, I hold strongly that, it is a bad politics and wrong political calculation to have both the President of Nigeria and the National Chairman of the ruling political party from one zone out of six geopolitical zones.
The decision of the APC NEC to dissolve its National Working Committee (NWC) is a good decision to save the soul of their party, but appointing its Acting National Chairman from the North where Mr President comes from, instead of Southern part of the country, where the sacked national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, comes from, goes a long way to authenticate the many speculations that the APC led federal Government is neck deep in the practice of nepotism and tribalism.
According to reports, the decision to dissolve the APC NWC by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) was based on President Buhari’s advice, hence, Mr President would have advised against such appointment.
Meanwhile, the full list of APC Caretaker Committee and extraordinary convention planning committee are: Gov Mai Mala Buni (Yobe) Chairman; Isiaka Oyebola SW; Ken Nnamani SE; Stella Okotete- Women Rep; Governor Sani Bello NC; Dr. James Lalu; Sen. Abubakar Yusuf- Senatè Rep; Hon. Akinyemi Olaide – Reps; David leon – SS; Abba Ari -NW; Prof. Tahir Mamman – NE; Ismail Ahmed – Youth; and Sen. Akpan Udoedehe- Secretary.
