Today, the remains of my beloved father-in-law, late Professor Gabriel John Ebukanson, will be interred in his country home.
Young Ebukanson started his academic pursuit at the Salvation Army Primary School, Akai-Ubium on completion, he proceeded to the Salvation Army secondary school, Akai-Ubium in Nsit Ubium local government area, Akwa Ibom State.
Late Gabriel Ebukanson attended University of Ife (UI) presently Obafemi Awolowo University where he obtained the following degrees in Botany B.Sc. (1971), M.sc (1980) and Ph.D. (1985).
He was a Senior lecturer at the College of Education, Uyo (1976-1983); was a lecturer at University of Cross River State, Uyo (1983-1991).
Late Professor Ebukanson had served the University of Uyo and the Nigeria Defence Academy in many capacities which include: Head of Department of Biological Science; Dean, Faculty of Sciences; Chairman of several Committees; Membership of Senate, University of Uyo and in 2000, he contested the prestigious position of Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
He was a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Botany (FNSB).
We will forever miss you.
