About 2 months ago, I visited the Akwa Ibom State Government Tomatoes Plantation in Uruan local government.
During my visit then, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Technical Matters and Due Process, Elder Ufot Ebong, and his team were just about preparing the soil for the tomatoes to be planted.
During my visit today, the story is different. The tomatoes are ready for harvest and interested buyers have started approaching the State government to sign an MoU for the business.
I also observed that other crops like watermelon, pepper, onions have been planted alongside the tomatoes in the plantation.
