A frontline Business tycoon from Mkpat Enin village in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, and chairmanship aspirant, Mr. Ekanem Brown has lauded governor Udom Emmanuel for constructing Coconut Refinery in Mkpat Enin, saying he will key into the governor’s industrialization project and empower youths of the local government area as well as develop Mkpat Enin LGA.
Mr. Brown, a graduate of University of Calabar, stated this recently while consulting the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Radar Newspaper, Otuekong Franklyn Isong, who is an indigene of Mkpat Enin in the Newspaper’s Office in Uyo, on his chairmanship ambition.
He expressed concern over what he called,”lack of human empowerment and infrastructural development in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area,” saying that he has the passion and what it takes to develop the area given his wealth of experience in entrepreneur, if elected the council chairman.
He further said that given his background as an entrepreneur, he has seen the areas of need of Mkpat Enin people as well as the gap that needs to be filled up in terms of leadership.
Ekanem who holds the title of Uko Mkparawa Ukpum said; “I normally feel bad about my locality anytime I’m in the village. It is a pity that we are christened the food basket of the state but it is not showing. It pains me to see many youths wasting away, that’s why I feel there is need for a change in leadership in my Local government Area and I have what it takes to take Mkpat Enin to the next level”.
While speaking on his achievements strength within 100 days in office, if elected Mkpat Enin council Boss, Mr. Brown said that he will ensure that the few markets in the locality are given national and international recognition as well as revive the Shoe Factory in the area which was built by the past administration but abandoned by successive administration.
Hear him, “within my 100 days in office, I will make sure that the Shoe Factory in the local government area will be up and doing, by so doing it will provide employment for the teaming youths and increase the internally generated revenue. The few markets in Mkpat Enin will have national and international recognition, I will grade more internal roads, empower the youths and teach them how to fish rather than give them fish.”
The chairmanship hopeful, while commending the effort of Mr Udom Emmanuel led government in trying to develop the state, said that the governor has performed creditably well within his one year in office, adding that what he loves about him is his ability to key into what the former administration did in the state.
He lauded the governor for siting the Coconut Refinery project in Mkpat Enin, saying that he will key into the project and make sure that youths in Mkpat Enin are skillful trained and equipped to measure up in the governor’s industrialization programme in the state. He said that Mkpat Enin youths under his administration of the local government will be gainfully employed in the state through the manpower development training he will embark upon.
“I score him above average, he has not abandoned any project started by his predecessor, he has really tried,” he said.
He called on Mkpat Enin people to work together in order to achieve their desired goals and eschew all forms of political imposition.
