A former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Edet Isong has promised to join hands with other members to build the All Progressives Congress (APC) into a stronger and more formidable political party. He said this today in his house in Oron while addressing APC officials from Urueoffong/Oruko Local Government Area who converged to formally admit him into the Party.

Chief Isong noted that he has been an admirer of President Muhamadu Buhari even when he was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).He added that there was every need for Akwa Ibom State to be part of the ruling party at the centre. He also expressed readiness to support the Urueoffong/Oruko Chapter of the Party financially to enable it function better.

“Iam happy to officially join a Party I admire, he said. He also said that he was proud to be a member of APC.

Chief Isong who is the publisher of Newsday and former Chairman, Urueoffong/Oruko Local Government Council urged APC officials from Urueoffong/Oruko Local Government Area to remain resolute and loyal to the Party. He assured that their sacrifice would not be in vain.

Speaking earlier, the Urueoffong/Oruko Chapter Chairman of the APC, Mr Victor Eyo expressed joy over the entry of Chief Windy Isong into the Party. He expressed optimism that Chief Isong’s many years of experience as a politician would be of immense benefits to the party. He described Chief Isong as a tested politician.

The highpoint of the event was the presentation of an APC membership card and broom to Chief Isong.

It would be recalled that Chief Isong was once the factional State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) during the administration of Obong Victor Attah.

The event was attended by many party officials from Urueoffong/Oruko Local Government Area, among them,a State Officer, Mr Iniobong Enyenihi,Chapter Chairman, Mr Victor Eyo, Secretary,Mr Bright Asuquo Uya, Barr. E.O.Oboho,Woman Leader,Mrs Afiong Bassey Ukim,Youths Leader,Mr Friday Unoh, Ward Chairmen and other party officials.

Prince John Anwana Ikott of Oron Local Government Area were also there in solidarity with Chief Isong.
