PGAN Marks 50th Anniversary In A’Ibom

Professional Golfers Association of Nigeria (PGAN), last week, celebrated its 50th anniversary at Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort, Uruan local government, Akwa Ibom State.

The event was marked with a week long programme which started on Monday, August 19, 2019, with children’s clinic, and seminar and golf tournament.

Highpoint of the event on Sunday, August 25, 2019, was presentation of award and laurels to winners of the tournament.

Information exclusively obtained by Radar Newspaper from the Pro of the Ibom Golf and Country Club, Mr Emmanuel Ochayi, shows that, in the professional category, Uche Odoh won with 8 under course par over 72 holes.

In the amateur categories: junior category, Otuekong Ukut (18 handicap) won with 103 gross score of 85 net over 18 holes.

In the veteran category, Mr. James Essien (22 handicap) won with gross score of 95 with 73 net over 18 holes.

In the ladies category; 2nd place, Esther Thompson (28 handicap) got gross score of 118 with 90 net over 18 holes.

In the veteran ladies category; Acholonu J (27 handicap) won with gross score of 135 with 108 net over 18 holes.

The best gross ladies was Opawunmi Sade, she got 102 gross over 18 holes.

The winner of the ladies category was Cephas Maryann (36 handicap), she won with gross of 121 with 85 net over 18 holes.

While in the men category; 3rd place was Udeme Esset (9 handicap) with gross 82 of 73 net over 18 holes; 2nd place was, John Udosen (26 handicap) with 99 gross of 73 net, winning on count back over 18 holes.

The best gross men went to the captain of Ibom Golf & Country Club, Rt. Hon. Usenobong Akpabio, he had 82 gross over 18 holes; while the winner was Otu Ekanem (28 handicap), he won with 93 gross of 66 net over 18 holes.

The Team Game was won by Ibom Golf & Country Club represented by Usenobong Akpabio, club captain; Barr. Edidiong Idiong, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen and Mr. Asuquo Udo.
