The Senator representing Akwa Ibom South (Eket) senatorial district in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, Dr. (Mrs.) Akon Eyakenyi, has been given a vote of confidence by her constituents following her effective representation of the people.

The vote of confidence was passed on the Senator during Oron Federal Constituency town hall meeting organised, at the weekend, in Oron, Akwa Ibom State to examine the scorecard and performance of Senator Eyakenyi in the Senate.

Motion for the vote of confidence which was moved by a former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and former Member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Peter Linus Umoh was seconded by Dr. (Mrs.) Mercy Ita Effiong.

The Oro Stakeholders expressed satisfaction over the performance and effective representation of Akon Eyakenyi in the Senate, extolling her good leadership qualities.

They noted that Senator Eyakenyi is actively involved in the legislative business of the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, adding that She has sponsored several Motions and Resolutions on the floor of the plenary.

The Stakeholders applauded Akon Eyakenyi for co-sponsoring and sponsoring several Bills in the Senate particularly, for sponsoring a Bill for the Upgrade of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron to a full fledged University status.

They commended the Distinguished Senator for training her constituents on numerous skills for self reliance and empowering them with meaningful start up kits to boost the economy.

In her response, the Senator who felt encouraged, thanked the Oro Stakeholders for their supports and promised to do more for her constituents in order to consolidate on the completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
