A new Commissioner of Police has been deployed to Akwa Ibom State. He is CP Bashir Makama.

Makama, replaces Musa Kimo, who was promoted recently to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police by the new acting IGP; Mohammed Adamu.

Until his new posting, the new Akwa Ibom CP was the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State command and had served as Police Commissioner in Benue State.

The TOWN CRIER Newspapers can authoritatively reveal that Makama joined the Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, where he served virtually in all the departments.

He held the position of Police Public Relations Officer, Operation officer, Divisional Police Officer in several Divisions in Lagos and other states, Area Commander in Suleja and Port Harcourt.

The Akwa Ibom new Police boss hails from Jos, the Plateau State capital. He was among the seven pioneer U.K trained community policing officers.

The TOWN CRIER checks show that Bashir Makama established community policing in Enugu, Kano, Jigawa and Benue states and had served in the Special Investigation Unit, Abuja, the Nation’s capital.

He is a graduate of Bayero University where he studied Sociology. He also bagged Masters degree in Law and Criminal Jurisprudence in same institution.

Meanwhile, as the new CP assumes office few days to the much-anticipated general elections, Akwa Ibomites are looking forward to seeing a more peaceful State. It is however believed that the Police chief would improve on the existing peace and harmony which is being experienced by the residents and investors in the oil rich State.
