LG Poll: I’ll take Mkpat Enin to greater heights – Chairmanship Hope, Unwana-Abasi

A two time Councillor of Ukpum Minya Ward 4 in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area and chairmanship hopeful, Hon. Unwanabasi Udo, has pledged to carry out an all round development in Mkpat Enin, when he emerges the executive chairman of the council.

Udo made the pledge during a media chat with our reporter in Uyo recently.

Speaking, Unwana-abasi said his drive for development is well-known in his locality, asserting that he has an unbeaten track record in human and physical development of his Ward as a councilor, saying he is ready to do more if elected as the chairman of the council in the forthcoming council poll.

Describing himself as the best man for the job, Unwana-abasi Udo who holds a Masters degree in Public Administration, posited that followers of Mkpat Enin politics would agree that he knows the problem of Mkpat Enin and has the willingness, love, managerial ability to manage the scarce resources available to the council for the development of the area.

“The emergence of Unwana-abasi Sunday Udoh in the political setting of Mkpat Enin LGA, when elected shall guarantee the people of a strong, united, indivisible, egalitarian, and economically viable Mkpat Enin Local Government Area devoid of rancour and acrimony. But will eradicate poverty and mediocrity among our people and enhance community as well as human capacity developments,” he submitted.

Speaking further, the Supervisor for Environment in the council said that he will work tirelessly to give the Local Government headquarters a facelift, decrying the state of infrastructure in the urban city, Unwana-Abasi said, “Mkpat Enin Urban deserves good roads, portable water and more stable electricity to measure up with other Local Government headquarters in the state.”

On the current unavailability of resources for development projects in the state and Local Governments, the chairmanship hopeful said that as a career public administrator, he has an economic blueprint he intends to implement when elected.

In his words: “The present state of economy in our nation is a catalytic booster to the need for diversification of our economy, therefore my administration shall pay attention to agriculture, through: sponsorship of periodic enlightenment campaigns, seminars and workshops to farmers; provision of micro-credits to farmers and encouragement of co-operative societies; provision of subsidised improved farm seedlings and new breeds to farmers; provision of fertilizers to farmers at subsidised rates; establishment of a functional poultry and piggery in the area; revamping of the Abattoirs along Mkpat Enin -Ikot Udo Idem road; provision of a demonstration farm in the area.”

He also promised to operate an open door policy, saying that “of course, you know that UnwanaAbasi is everyone’s friend and not an elitist politician, so I will be very visible in the office and even village. I will take Mkpat Enin to greater heights”.
